Lauren Veasey is an education policy consultant based in Oakland. Formerly she served as program officer for the Southern Education Foundation (SEF), the nation’s oldest independent education nonprofit, advancing equity and excellence in education in the South. She is a former Education Policy Fellow with Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (2008); a Southeastern Council of Foundations Hull Fellow(2007), and an Association of Black Foundation Executives Connecting Leaders Fellow (2006). She is a member of Grantmakers for Education (GFE) and Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP). Veasey has also worked with the University of Michigan’s Institute for Research on Women and Gender, and as a substitute teacher with Oakland Unified School District. She received her master’s in education policy and research from the University of Michigan and received her bachelor’s in political science and African-American studies from Stanford University.
